Thursday Night

Big difference in one day !!!

Mighty MikeyD had a much better day today finally something good to report.

After last night I was thinking of shutting down this blog and the care page even though he has over 3000 visits a day on this blog !!!

Early this morning a pain management team of 3 doctors came into to see MikeyD and they worked their magic they did an assessment of the situation and changed all of his medicine and the times of day instead of every 4 hours they are giving it to him every 2 hours and different medicine with different doses all our thanks to one nurse and Dr.Vetter.

My auntie Bridie and uncle Mattie came to visit MikeyD and Moya said can you give them a smile and he did he gave them a big smile. Then Bob McCann came to visit again and Moya said hey Mikeyd Bob is here to see you can give him a smile not only did he give Bob a big smile but he gave him a thumbs up as if to say Thank you my man for being there for me.it has been 21 days since he has spoken he never said much when he could speak but I promise you if he could speak he would say thank you rather than a thumbs up he would give you both. I long for the day when this Little boy of little words will speak to us again. I hope I have to ask him to stop talking one day soon !!!

Then speech therapy came in and since he does not like Blueberry Ice pops Lauren gave him chocolate ice cream he had a few spoons and liked it we hope Regina is listening and has a comment we miss her. I had an appointment today I am interviewing rehabilitation Hospitals the next step for MikeyD today I visited The Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick tomorrow and Monday I have appointments at different places. I would appreciate if anyone of you knows of one of the best rehabilitation hospitals for traumatic brain injuries in the USA I do not care if it is in California a lot of people are telling me you need to find a place close to home I just want to find the best place possible for my son if it is in Kansas we will go to Kansas maybe you know someone who knows someone who has experienced the need and can let me know please post or email me I will be glad to hear from you and consider any recommendations. I hope and pray that MikeyD has another day tomorrow like today.

  2. That is the best news that Mikey had a better day yesterday, so exciting. We were so hoping that when we got on the blog this morning things would be better so it is music to our ears. Enough little steps forward make up for the steps back. We enjoyed the video as well, what great support.

  4. I think back on that horrific day 3 weeks ago, when Mikey was in cardiac arrest, placed on a ventilator,in an induced coma, with kidney and liver damage and machines pumping his blood for him in ICU...Mikey has made significant progress. PROGRESS (even small) is STILL PROGRESS!!! It was Benjamin Franklin who first coined the phrase "There are no pains without gains" Success WILL come with hard work and perseverance. I truly believe in Mighty Mike and know he can do this with the support of his family and friends. We are there in spirit and always in vigilant prayer. WAY TO GO MIKEY!!! Enjoy that chocolate ice cream!! Keep working hard and maybe they'll give some pudding!! Please keep the blog going, it's our only way to keep in touch with Mikey. Waiting on bended knee for some more good news...

  5. Keep the faith, Mike and Moya! God hears our prayers and answers us even if it seems he is not. His timing is perfect and I believe Mikey will recover fully in time. Know that myself and so many others are holding you in constant loving thoughts and prayers daily. Keep praying, keep believing and keep the faith. Miracles do happen and they are made possible by these things, faith, belief and prayer! xoxox love to all of you! Beth

  6. Yippee!! You know, with all our advanced medicines we think everything should be so exact, but every human responds differently and it changes over time. Thank goodness for your angel of a nurse and Dr. Vetter. And tell MikeyD to keep fighting!! I love what "Price" wrote at 6:09 - progress is to be celebrated! And the Cassin house agrees - chocolate beats blueberries any old day! :-)
We will continue to pray for MikeyD and for you and Moya and the girls and all the nurses and doctors. You are a part of a very big prayer family now! And your blog is very much appreciated, but I know it takes time and you might have to skip a day or two. The love and the prayers will continue to flow regardless and unconditionally!
Keep healing young man; you are Mighty MikeyD and we know you will pull through this!

  7. Hey Guys,
That is great news! Mike or Moya, I have a nephew who is recovering from brain cancer and was in a similar situation with speaking and moving. My sister suggested you look into RUSK that is out of NY Presbyterian Hospital as well. The Children's Specialized Hospital was the other one that was highly recommended to her. There is. TBI place in Voorhes NJ that she knows of as well. Also one in Oregon. She really suggests the first two though. Keep the faith. He will get better. I have seen prayers do amazing things! Moya has my cell # if you have any questions give me a call. All our love to Michael. Xoxo.

  8. Michael, I don't know if you heard about the replacement referees, but they are finally gone. R.A Dickey got his 20th win and is behind in the ERA standings by just .01. The Mets are still not doing so great though. Me and all the other kids at our school can't wait to see you in class.

It's us, your old neighbors again, touching base to say thank GOD thank god that Mikey is experiencing such tremendous progress, and getting such good care--I want to say that he will be eating solid food by Halloween, and bothering you about what he wants for Christmas by Thanksgiving. We are asking God for a miracle and to get Mikey up and on his feet and running around again by New Year's!! With all our love and hope for the future, Margie, Maddie and Gracie
